The area is predominantly residential and is well connected to other parts of Pune by public transport. The Shivaji Nagar railway station is one of the major railway stations in Pune, connecting the area to nearby cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. It is also home to several educational institutions, hospitals, shopping malls, and restaurants. Pune Municipal Corporation has proposed to develop the area as a smart city by improving infrastructure and implementing new urbanisation plans.
